hey summer — Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how 5k Consulting LLP ("we," "us") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Hey Summer parent app, the Hey Summer Kids companion app, and the related backend service (together, the "Service").

1. Information we collect

Information you provide as a parent. When you create a parent account, we collect your name, email address, and a password. Passwords are stored as a salted hash; we never store them in plain text.

Information from the kid app. The kid app is paired to a parent account using a short numeric code generated in the parent app. We collect a device identifier for the paired device and the data the parent creates for that child (chores, routines, rewards, reminders, mood entries). The kid app does not ask for or transmit a child's name, email, phone, location, photos of the child, or any other personally identifying information.

Content you create. Chores, rewards, schedules, reminders, mood entries, and photo proofs that you (or your child via the kid app) submit through the Service.

Subscription state. When you purchase a subscription through Apple, we receive a transaction identifier and entitlement state from RevenueCat (our subscription manager). We do not see or store your Apple ID, payment card, or billing address.

Push notification tokens. If you enable notifications, we store the device's Expo push token to deliver daily digests, reminders, and approval requests.

Technical information. Standard server logs (IP address, timestamps, request paths) for security and rate limiting. These logs are retained for a short rolling window.

2. How we use information

• To operate, maintain, and secure the Service (sign-in, syncing data between your devices, sending push notifications you've enabled).
• To process and manage your subscription, including providing free trials.
• To respond to support requests.
• To detect and prevent abuse, fraud, or security incidents.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your information for behavioral advertising. We do not use third-party analytics or advertising SDKs in the kid app.

3. Sharing

We share limited information only with service providers that help us operate the Service, and only as needed:

• Apple, Inc. — processes in-app purchases. Apple's privacy practices are described at apple.com/legal/privacy.
• RevenueCat, Inc. — manages subscription entitlements on our behalf.
• Expo / EAS (650 Industries, Inc.) — delivers push notifications.
• Railway Corp. — hosts our backend service and database.

We may also disclose information if required by law, to enforce our Terms, or to protect the safety of users or the public.

4. Security

All traffic between the apps and the backend is encrypted in transit using HTTPS. Passwords are hashed; authentication tokens are scoped and expire. No system is perfectly secure, but we apply industry-standard protections appropriate to the type of data we handle.

5. Data retention and deletion

We keep your account data while your account is active. You can permanently delete your account, all kids, all paired devices, and all content from inside the parent app at Settings → Delete account. Deletion is immediate and cascades through the database; we cannot recover deleted data. Some server log entries may be retained briefly for security purposes after deletion.

6. Children's privacy

Hey Summer is designed for families. The parent app is intended for adults (18+). The kid app is designed to be set up by a parent or legal guardian for use by their child.

The kid app does not request a child's name, email, phone number, photographs of the child, location, or any other personally identifying information. Pairing is done with a short numeric code generated by the parent, so a child does not need an account or credentials. Any content a child creates in the kid app (such as marking a chore done or recording a mood) is associated with that child's pairing record in the parent's account; it can be reviewed and deleted by the parent at any time.

If you believe a child has provided us information without a parent's knowledge or consent, please contact us at 5kconsultingllp@gmail.com and we will delete it.

7. Your rights

You can access, correct, and delete the information associated with your account from within the parent app. To request a copy of your data or ask any other question about your privacy, email 5kconsultingllp@gmail.com.

8. International users

The Service is operated from the United States. If you use Hey Summer from outside the U.S., you understand that your information will be transferred to and processed in the U.S.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date above and, for material changes, provide reasonable notice in the app.
